| Name: | Lirael |
|---|
This is an rp journal for the
compound_rp.
Lirael was born and brought up on the Clayr's Glacier in the Old Kingdom. She is not a normal Clayr (as a Clayr's gift is to See into the future, to have the Sight -- which she doesn't), and at the age of fourteen she is an outcast. It doesn’t help that the Clayr were usually dark-skinned and had blonde hair, whereas Lirael had a pale complexion that never tans, and dark hair. Plus, she has never been Seen by any of the Clayr.
Another reason Lirael is so outcast, is because she is not just a Clayr. The blood of the Clayr run in her veins, but the blood of the Abhorsen (an Abhorsen is a man or woman who can bind and control the dead—much like a necromancer, but they fight the dead rather than use them. They also are able to walk into Death, through all Nine Gates and return to their bodies.) is stronger. Her mother went to seek the Abhorsen Terciel after seeing a vision of the future. The vision showed of the need of a Remembrancer in the coming battle, so Arriel went to Terciel, point blank told him her vision and there you get Lirael. Lirael will never receive the Sight, but her unique parentage gives her the ability to be a Remembrancer, someone who looks into the past using a Dark Mirror while in Death. She also became the Abhorsen-in-Waiting, the Abhorsen's apprentice and assistent in the fight against the Dead.
Through the second and third book of this trilogy Lirael goes through battles, finds out she has a family (turns out the main character in the first book, who is the current Abhorsen, is her half-sister) and participates in sealing Orannis (basically…supreme, badass destroyer, death ball). And through all this Lirael is quiet and reserved. She is strong and brave…but insecure with herself. She gets very, very attached to to things at times, but never people—she doesn’t trust people.
Lirael, and the other mages in this trilogy, draw their magic from The Charter. A well of spells and symbols that a Charter Mage can use to fight, heal or whatever.
Lirael is an awesome Charter Mage. She is the strongest in existence, actually. This is due to her having the mixed Bloodline of an Abhorsen as well as the far more common Clayr. As the Abhorsen line is so rare, its power is shared by very few, only 2 at most times, the Abhorsen, and the Abhorsen-in-Waiting. This is probably the reason for her incredible power. Lirael has the full knowledge, powers and abilities of an Abhorsen. Due to her Clayr heritage, she also posses the power to "see" the past (wheras all other Clayr see the future), but must use both aspects of her heritage to do so, as it is only observable from the realm of Death.
There are seven bells of an Abhorsen (necromancers use them as well) that are used when fighting the dead.
Ranna is called 'Sleeper', the smallest and has the highest tone. Its induces sleep, quiescence, and/or relaxation in both humans the Dead.
Mosrael is called 'Waker' it brings the the one who hears it into Life, but throws the ringer further into Death.
Kibeth is 'Walker' and can give freedom of movement or force someone to walk into (or further into) Death.
Dyrim is 'Speaker', and can grant the ability of speech, or force one to be silence. It can also reveal secrets or allow the reading of minds.
Belgaer is the Thinking bell, it can restore memory and thought but it can also be used to erase them.
Saraneth is 'Binder', it binds those who hear it to the ringer's will.
Astarael is 'Weeper', it is the most powerful bell which will throw everyone who hears it, including the person who rings it, deep into Death.
HAS:
1. bells and all th abhorsen/remembrancer stuff (four books: The Book of the Dead, The Book of Remembrancing and Forgetting, Creatures, and The Skin of a Lyon)
